My Approach
Reconnecting with Light: Support for Depression
In therapy, we’ll look beneath the surface: exploring what’s been silenced, what’s been lost, and what needs care. The work is about helping you reconnect – to feeling, to meaning, and to life.
I don’t see depression as an enemy to be fought, but as a signal that something within you is out of balance. It can reflect deep grief, unmet needs, or the quiet ache of not feeling fully seen for who you are. For many queer people, depression can also carry the weight of invisibility, rejection, or the effort it takes to keep parts of yourself hidden.
Rather than trying to simply “cheer up,” we’ll gently explore what your depression is asking for – what’s been silenced, what’s been lost, and what needs care. Together, we’ll listen for what wants to emerge, helping you reconnect with your inner strength, your sense of belonging, and the small sparks of light that can guide you back to yourself.
Our Sesssions
What we can explore together:
Understanding the Weight
Identifying the life circumstances, thought patterns, and emotional histories that contribute to the feelings of depression.
Reclaiming Your Energy
Finding small, manageable ways to reconnect with your body and rebuild your vitality, even when motivation feels out of reach.
Challenging the Voice of Hopelessness
Learning to recognise and soften the critical or despairing inner narrative that depression amplifies.
Uncovering What’s Beneath
Exploring the unresolved grief, anger, or loss that may be lying beneath the surface of the numbness.
Rediscovering Meaning and Connection
Gently helping you find your way back to the people, activities, and parts of yourself that once brought a sense of purpose and joy.
A Gentle Path Forward
Healing from depression is often a gradual process of reconnection. It’s about finding the glimmers of hope and building upon them, at your own pace. I offer a warm, steady presence to support you in this process, helping you remember that the light hasn’t gone out – it’s just waiting for a safe space to be rekindled.
