Addiction

Addiction often begins as a way to escape discomfort or pain – a drink, a bump, a hook-up, a scroll. For a while, it works. But over time, what once soothed starts to take more than it gives, leaving you feeling drained and disconnected. Often, addiction is less about what we’re using and more about what it’s protecting us from.

For many in the queer community, addiction is tied to shame, rejection, or the pressure to hold it all together. I offer a space to unpack these layers and reconnect with yourself – not by pushing feelings away, but by learning to stay with them. Recovery isn’t about perfection; it’s about returning to presence, one day at a time.

My Approach

Understanding the Cycle, Finding Your Way Forward

My personal experience and work in addiction has shown me that willpower alone is rarely the answer. Together, we explore the part of you that turns to a substance or behaviour to cope. What is it trying to protect you from? What pain is it managing? Through understanding and compassion, we uncover its original purpose and find healthier, more conscious ways to meet those deeper needs.

Our Sesssions

What we can explore together:

Breaking the Cycle

Understanding the triggers and patterns of your dependency, and developing practical strategies to manage cravings and reduce harm.

Healing the Root Causes

Exploring the anxiety, trauma, or unresolved pain that the addiction may be helping you cope with.

Working with Shame and Self-Blame

Transforming the critical inner voice that often accompanies addiction into one of understanding and self-compassion.

Repairing Relationships

Addressing the impact addiction has had on your connections with others and rebuilding trust, starting with the relationship with yourself.

Building a New Foundation

Creating a life of purpose, connection, and healthy routines that support your wellbeing and make recovery sustainable.

A Journey of Reconnection

Recovery is not just about stopping a behaviour; it’s about starting a new, more fulfilling chapter. It’s a process of reconnecting with yourself and building a life where you no longer need the addiction to get through the day. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support and practical tools for that journey.
